The Brazilian multinational secure technology solutions company Valid (B³: VLID3 – ON), always in touch with market demands and investing in innovation and new projects, will provide a portfolio of Smart Cities solutions to São Caetano do Sul, a Brazilian municipality 8 miles away from the capital of São Paulo that holds the highest Human Development Index (HDI) of the country. With this new service, the company enters the promising Smart Cities market, which has been showing how technology can be an asset for cities.
The integrated solution is a Unified Citizen Registry for issuance of Municipal Identification Cards (CIM) that uses geotechnical data for cartographic mapping, spatialization, and geographical analyses of urban demographics. The registry will use biographic and biometric data, such as fingerprints and photos. Biometry will ensure the uniformity of the citizen database of São Caetano do Sul, improving user identification and offering public services that aggregate value.
The tool also provides aerial mapping and vectorizing of all of the municipality’s buildings. This will give São Caetano do Sul an accurate and updated cartographic basemap of the urban space. “Knowing the geographic location and the usability and habitability of the citizen’s homes helps both in collection and investment capabilities, and in planning the geographic placement of urban services and infrastructure,” explains Marcio Bastos, Commercial Superintendent of Identification at Valid.
According to Bastos, the Smart Cities solutions portfolio offers interactive, sustainable, and efficient environments for the citizen-government relationship. “One of the biggest challenges for the public sector has always been efficiently communicating with the public. Implementation of this tool will provide support and stability to the decision-making process of government actors in all stages of municipal management by supplying the big picture of events, which allows for precise and efficient decision-making.
In the Smart Cities market, Valid is also responsible for the municipal identification cards of Providence, Rhode Island, in the United States. The solution is kept in end-to-end encrypted cloud storage and provides secure access to the city’s services.
