The company will be demonstrating the tracking seals at ABINAM 2019, Brazil’s largest event for the mineral water industry

As an expert in security and tracking, Valid, the Brazilian multinational, will be attending the 28th Brazilian Natural Mineral Water Industry Conference and Expo – ABINAM 2019, which will be held this year in Bento Gonçalves, Rio Grande do Sul, from October 9 to 11. The event’s aim is to work toward improving processes for tracking mineral water sources in Brazil.

Valid’s demonstrations, which will be available at Stands 20, 22, 24 and 26, will show the operation of the tracking seals – both physical and digital – that are used to fight clandestine bottling of mineral water and to track the origin of the product that reaches the end consumer. Ten Brazilian states already require the tracking seal on large returnable bottles, and a few more are preparing to regulate this market, including disposable small bottles.

Valid’s solution for tracking the water source includes the installation of printing and counting equipment, with no initial costs to the client. Behind the seals is an integrated management system between the government’s treasury office and the bottling companies, and which can also include other oversight bodies, such as health surveillance agencies.

Another feature is that the solution ensures that bottling companies comply with state legislation regarding the tracking seal for bottled mineral water in returnable bottles (10 and 20 liters) and for disposable bottles.

The seals for large bottles contain robust anti-fraud intelligence and include security features such as an alphanumeric code, a random check code, fluorescent printing on an invisible background that is reactive to UV light, a scratch strip, holographic hot stamping, and a series of other resources that prevents their reproduction. Meanwhile, the seals for disposable bottles are laser printed or printed using security ink, directly onto the product on the client’s bottling line, ensuring unique and secure identification of each item. With the information contained in these seals, anyone can use an app to verify the water’s origin.

“It’s always good to participate in events that show a qualified audience how Valid solutions can help to improve processes in the bottling chain, thus fighting fraud, but most of all, ensuring the origin of the product that reaches the end consumer,” states Marcello Ribeiro, Director of Identification at Valid.
