The prize is an initiative by the Associação Brasileira da Indústria de Identificação por Radiofrequência (Brazilian Radiofrequency Identification Industry Association – ABRFID) and recognizes pioneering and innovative companies who deliver RFID technology and/or the Internet of Things (IoT) concept to the benefit of businesses both in Brazil and abroad, across diverse markets.
The ceremony was held today (August 31) at the LATAM Retail Show, the largest event in Latin America for the retail, franchising, shopping center and e-commerce sectors. The “NFC Payment Wristband” success case, the award winner for RFID Wearable Development for Brazilian Hardware, covered the production details for the BPPTag payment wristbands, a partnership between Valid, Brasil Pré-Pagos (BPP) and VISA. The device uses NFC and works as a pre-paid card that can be loaded using a debit card or via a payment at the bank. In terms of technology, the wristband and all wearable payments are protected under the same terms and conditions as for pre-paid cards.
“Being recognized with the ABRFID award shows that we are on the right path by investing in an easier, faster and more secure payment experience. Payment methods are changing and we are seeking solutions for our clients,” states Adriano Franki, Commercial Superintendent of Payment and Mobile Solutions at Valid Brazil.
