Youths produce and stage a classic of Brazilian theater with sponsorship from Valid.
With the beginning of this New Year, the public will be able to see the result of the Passageiros do Futuro (“Passengers of the Future”) project, which has been training youth for technical and artistic roles in the theater for the past 15 years. The classic “O auto da compadecida”, by Ariano Suassuna, will be staged by youths who, over the course of 2015, took training workshops on set design, wardrobe, sound, makeup, acting, and physical and vocal training.
Seventy youths participated in the 18th incarnation of the project, which was held at Vila Olímpica do Caju. Each workshop was 12 hours per week and lasted 5 months. In order to put what they learned into practice, they will be launching the play in early 2016.
The objectives of the Passageiros do Futuro project are in line with Valid’s corporate values. The multinational company wishes to promote sociocultural activities and support community organizations. Youths participating in the workshops earn fundamental technical knowledge to help them access the labor market.
To date, over 1,300 youths from different communities have participated in the Passageiros do Futuro project.
