With OnBoard, users purchase and manage credits and use their own smartphone on the validation machine. All public modes of transportation will be available on the program, including bus, metro, train, bikes, ferries and trams, in any city that uses the app, including in countries outside of Brazil.
Last week, the startup won two awards as part of the Ahead Visa acceleration program: Overall first place and Audience’s Choice. Valid worked as a payment methods consultant for OnBoard Mobility, including for the design and production of pre-paid dual interface cards. The cards may be used both for transportation and for payment, and credits can be managed using the same app. Valid also participated in the development of the cards’ layout, which follows EMV rules.
“Our idea is to share Valid’s expertise in payment methods and solutions for transportation,” explains Adriano Franki, Valid’s Commercial VP for Mobile and Payment Solutions in Brazil. The company was responsible for the design, integration and production of the RioCard Duo 2016 dual interface cards, a new product that was launched in Rio de Janeiro, enabling purchases using the card used for public transport.
